MODIFIED POLYMER XANTOL
Mud structure-forming agent XANTOL is used to control rheological and filtration properties of WBM, increase viscosity and carrying capacity of clay and non-clay drilling fluids based on fresh or mineralized water (including those based on sea water). It facilitates solids- and cutting-carrying capacity of drilling fluids even when used in low concentrations and in cases where no clay phase is used.
XANTOL is a high molecular weight water-soluble xanthan biopolymer.

Customer Benefits
-
XANTOL additive is able to increase viscosity and to gel at low shear rates and to thin instantly to restore original viscosity at high shear rates, resulting in good ROP.
-
XANTHOL provides adequate cutting-carrying capacity of muds while allowing minimal drilling pressure to be applied. This reduces the settling of drill cuttings in static conditions, reduces circulation pressure losses in the pipes, providing maximum hydraulic power at the bit (which increases the ROP).
-
Being a good plasticizer, XANTOL reduces friction effectively.
-
XANTOL is a biodegradable polymer, it dissolves in contact with acids; it has the minimal possible impact on reservoir properties of productive formations.
-
XANTOL is compatible with majority of drilling fluid additives and other gelling polymer formulations. However, before applying new products, it is recommended to carry out preliminary tests.
-
XANTOL is effective at temperatures up to 120 °C. It is non-toxic and environmentally safe.
Recommended Consumption
To obtain the optimal consistency of the solution, it is recommended to introduce the chemical slowly and evenly into the circulating drilling fluid through a hydraulic funnel at a rate of 20-30 minutes per bag. The rate of dissolution of the chemical depends on the temperature of the mixing water and the salinity of the solution.
The recommended consumption of the XANTOL is on 0.6 – 6 kg per m3 of the finished solution, depending on the required viscosity, as well as on drilling fluid formulation.
It is advisable to use a bactericide for prolonged storage and use of a drilling fluid with the addition of XANTOL.
Packing
XANTOL is supplied in 25 kg multilayer paper or polypropylene bags, 1000 kg per pallets. Guaranteed shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture, provided storage and transportation conditions are observed.
XANTOL is certified for the application in technological processes of oil production and transportation.
