Gelling agent for self-diverting acid stimulation fluids SURFOGEL® grade A / AT

Gelling agent for self-diverting acid stimulation fluids SURFOGEL® grade A / AT

ТU 2482-080-53501222-2010

Purpose of Use

Gelling agent SURFOGEL® grade A/grade AT is designed for the application as a gel forming component in HCl-based self-diverting acid stimulation fluids, in FLUXOCORE® 210 grade C (grade N) in particular. The technology is designed for the treatment of wells in carbonate fractured and porous fractured reservoirs with high heterogeneity of layers.

Gelling agents SURFOGEL® grade A/ grade AT are alcohol solution of highly effective surfactants.

Gelling agent SURFOGEL® grade A is applied at normal formation temperatures, gelling agent SURFOGEL® grade AT is applied at higher temperatures.

Application Area

  • Acidic stimulation of the wells in carbonate reservoirs of porous type and fractured-porous type both at initial and at secondary formation exposing, including high-amount acidic treatment.

Customer Benefits

Application of gelling agents SURFOGEL® grade A/grade AT in self-diverting acidic compositions for acid stimulation of the wells in carbonate reservoirs allows:

  • To obtain high-viscous acid gel in formation conditions,
  • To enlarge the area of productive layer covered with acid stimulation,
  • To avoid the secondary colmatation of the pay zone of the formation.

During the process of treatment of wells in carbonate reservoirs with acid stimulation fluids FLUXOCORE® 210 grade C/grade N containing gelling agents SURFOGEL® grade A/grade AT the forming of wide network of wormholes in the matrix is possible not only due to the heterogeneity of the reservoir but also due to redirecting the vector of effect on the rock by increasing the resistance of the gel.

Some additional advantage on the use of self-diverting acid stimulation fluids with gelling agents SURFOGEL® grade A/grade AT is their low viscosity at their original state, which makes 20-30mPa∙s at the temperature of 20°С. It allows use this flow-diverting technology in coiltubing technologies.

Process Technique and Consumption Rates

Well treatment technology implying gelling agent SURFOGEL® grade A/grade AT supposes combined application of self-diverting acidic composition containing gelling agent and pure acid stimulation fluid FLUXOCORE® 210 grade C.

The content of gelling agent SURFOGEL® grade A/grade AT in self–diverting acid stimulation fluid which is HCl-based compound or FLUXOCORE® 210 grade C depends on the required maximum viscosity and application conditions.

To select the optimal design of application of gelling agents SURFOGEL® grade A/grade AT it is recommended to contact the specialists of Sales and Service Department of Polyex company.
